The flashy Anti:dote bar, located at the equally stylish Swissotel The Stamford, has been making waves across Singapore’s nightlife scene for its particularly inventive cocktails concocted by Tom Hogen, an internationally renowned mixologist.
And it’s not just all about the cocktails either; their in-house Catalan-born chef serves up an interesting lunch menu, as well as some of the finest tapas we’ve tried anywhere in Singapore. Their critically-acclaimed mixologist, Tom Hogen – flown in from the thriving Chicago cocktail scene – seems to have made this place his own, crafting combinations that impress no end. When we last went, we tried the Asian-inspired ‘Tonic’ (lemongrass, ginger and rum), and also ‘The Treat of Kings’ which had our eyes squinting with its sourness.
Décor wise, it’s quite a glitzy affair, with an enormous glass installation (you could call it a chandelier of some sort) dangling over a large section of the bar. You have three choices when it comes to seating here; pull up to the bar on one of the stools, grab a comfy chair at the back, or experience their half-seating half-standing bus-stop style cushions, (a nice feature that brings all the social benefits of standing up, while giving that extra bit of support for tired legs).
In the kitchen, their Barcelona-born chef has worked at Michelin-star restaurants across the Mediterranean. At Anti:dote, the chef puts his signature touches to refined, contemporary tapas selections such as yellow fin tuna skewers (imported from Japan every week), while their bite-sized chunks of rib beef are braised for 3 days before making it onto your plate. They also do a great pizza, which is pretty good value too at S$12. Most other dishes fall in the S$14-20 category.
Find Anti:dote bar located in Swissotel The Stamford. Coming by MRT, your best bet is to get off at City Hall and make the two-minute walk from there. Also, do not that there is a smart-casual dress code here (ie. No shorts or flip flops).
