Entrance to Equinox restaurant and City Space bar is to the left hand side of the main hotel reception. Although reservations are usually required for dinner you can head up for a drink in City Space without a booking, but get here early if you want one of the coveted seats looking directly out of the window. The closest MRT is at City Hall and then it’s a ten minute walk through a shopping centre, just follow the signs for Swissôtel. The dress code is smart-casual, so no shorts or flip-flops.

The bar and lounge are to the right as you step out of the lift; with friendly waitresses in chic cocktail dresses on hand to show you to your seat. Thanks to the size and decor, the bar has a cosy feel with, large glass windows frame the skyline, and red velour armchairs are strategically positioned to give you a great view. Split over two levels, the designers have done their upmost to ensure that everyone gets a peek at the city below. Glass globes dangle from the high ceiling like frozen bubbles and there is a smooth jazz band that play every night of the week from around 20:30. This is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Singapore from above, and unlike many of the other sky-high bars the atmosphere is relaxed and you could easily spend an entire evening here.

The view may be impressive, but the drinks are even more so. Mangorama is a fruity punch served in a tin can and arriving at your table in a haze of orange-scented dry ice. It is an intense mix of calvados, Belvedere Pomarancza, mango and passion fruit, rosemary and orange blossom topped off with a kick of chilli.

Bubble tea comes in an extremely original martini glass, the top shaped like a teacup with a handle. The cocktail is a tasty blend of ‘Sakura! Sakura! Tea’, gin, grapefruit, cranberry and pomegranate juice with a dash of grenadine to sweeten it. Again this cocktail is all about theatrics. Inside the glass is a strainer filled with dry ice that creates bubbles and keeps the drink cool. The bar snacks are also remarkable, with enough variety and refills that you won’t be thinking about supper.

There is no end of sky bars in Singapore, but City Space at Swissôtel offers so much more than a view with great value drinks and a smart intimate lounge, making it a popular place for drinks with friends or date, watching the sun set and the city lights start to twinkle in the dark.
