Tanjong Beach Club

Beach Club & Restaurant in Sentosa

Tanjong Beach Club is a popular hangout on Sentosa Island, where you can dine on a menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, swim, play beach games, soak up the sun on the sun loungers, listen to the laidback house tracks and generally enjoy the cosmopolitan vibe. Weekend afternoons, Tanjong Beach Club gets very busy and bustling, especially around the bar area, so it’s great if you are looking for a lively party.

The beach complex has an open-air but semi-shaded layout that has different sections for dining, drinking and mingling, as well as a large pool for cooling off, complete with a wooden deck and sunloungers. You can rent a towel for the day if you don’t have you own, or take a look at the swimwear and accessories in the onsite beach shop.

The views across the often hazy Singapore Strait out towards the dozens of anchored cargo ships may not be that spectacular, but Tanjong Beach Club does get pretty much everything else spot on in our books. The live house DJ during the day provides a pleasantly chilled soundtrack to lazing by the beach, and the selection of cocktails, wines and food here is also in a class of its own when compared to other Sentosa bars.

Upscale beach food here includes the likes of seafood linguini (S$39,) beer battered fish & chips (S$28) and they also run an all-day seafood barbeque (11:00-22:00, S$98 for two people) which includes clam chowder, giant tiger prawns, and filets of fish. On the drinks front, don’t miss their signature Tanjong Sling (vodka, lychee, apple juice, lime and elderflower) or if you’re arriving early and need a pick-me-up, go for their Spanish Bloody Mary which uses home-made gazpacho instead of the tomato juice (both S$19).

Come nightfall – particularly on the weekends – Tanjong Beach Club really comes alive. They run their famous ‘Smack My Beach Up’ parties on a semi-regular basis and be sure to look out for their three-times-per-year ‘Full Steam Ahead’ full moon parties; not quite Thailand’s Koh Phangan, but you can still expect buckets of booze, beer pong live DJs playing in to the early hours. Please note that entry into Tanjong Beach Club is free, unless there is a scheduled event taking place in which case it’s often a good idea to buy your tickets in advance.

Tanjong Beach Club is easy to reach on the southern tip of Sentosa Island, right next to Sentosa Golf Club. Take the MRT to VivoCity, transfer to Sentosa Island, then jump on the free bus service that makes its way around the island. One word of warning: getting a taxi home from here at three in morning is not fun - so save a taxi number or book ahead.
