  • Orchard Central Shopping Mall

    Lifestyle Mall in Singapore

One of the new kids on the block, Orchard Central towers above other Orchard Road shopping malls. Take one of the six super escalators to explore this mall, which includes some quirky modern art pieces and the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall. Tourists can pick up Orchard Central’s discount passport at the concierge and enjoy up to 25% off selected brands. Easy to find, the mall is on the corner of Orchard Road and Killiney Road, around five minutes’ walk to the MRT at Somerset.

  • Shopping

The focus of Orchard Central is its fashion brands, a mix of local and international names with labels aimed at young professionals including Levi’s, Quicksilver, Converse and TM Lewin. The local brands are far more interesting though: Blackmarket is like an upscale thrift store, with an eclectic mix of vintage bags, clothes from young Asian designers and bizarre trinkets. CMYK aims to provide the latest designer trends at more affordable prices, from cute pastel dresses to rock goddess, with most items under 60 SGD.

EGG3 is another quirky lifestyle store selling an unusual range of fashion and accessories. If you are looking for a taste of Europe and North Africa, head down to The Med where you will find an exclusive selection of boutiques selling products from Italy, Spain and Morocco.

    Other Activities

If you get tired of shopping, there are still plenty of other things to do at Orchard Central. Spend an hour or so exploring the Art Trail, a series of modern pieces selected by Singapore’s National Arts Council. To help you appreciate the artwork, pick up a map from the Concierge Desk. Another fantastic part of the mall to explore is the theatrical Roof Garden on the top floor. With waterfalls and a bamboo grove, it is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road and is open 24/7.

It is impossible to miss the Via Ferrata climbing wall. Open daily from 12:00 until 21:00 they provide rock climbing sessions for beginners and a chance to abseil. The tallest indoor wall in Singapore, it rises to 30 metres over five floors of Orchard Central. The instructors are well trained, whether you are climbing for the first time or are a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and you can enjoy a great view from the top. For those who want to go even higher, experience the thrills of being in charge of your own Airbus in the SG Flight Simulator, where you can take off and land from over 20,000 airports around the world.

    Restaurants

Continuing the Mediterranean theme in the basement is Medz, an upscale food court offering a wide range of delights from the region, including dishes from Greece, Turkey, France and Spain. With a fresh cooking station for each country this is the ideal place to go if you can’t decide what kind of food you want. There is also a great range of restaurants serving cuisine from around the world, including Japanese, Korean, American and Vietnamese. A popular cafe is New York’s Dean and Deluca serving a range of The Big Apple’s famous sandwiches and pastries. If you want to dine alfresco there are several restaurants on the rooftop bar, including Vietnamese fine dining at NUOC or modern Italian at Ochre.
