10 Best Nightlife in the Civic District Singapore
The Best Places to go at night in the Civic District
The list of nightlife in the Civic Distric is surprisingly long, considering this compact area only comprises a few square miles of central Singapore. This area is a little set away from the Financial District, meaning that most drinks and food prices aren't through the roof. In fact, a couple of our choices in this Top 10 list actually do some pretty budget-friendly drinks deals – great considering this is supposed to be one of the most expensive holiday destinations in the world.
Our 10 best nightlife in the Civic District features venues that fall into a range of categories right across Singapore’s ever-expanding nightlife spectrum. From plush, Moet popping-hotel bars, to humble student venues where you can grab a pint for under S$10, our choices fit around most budgets and tastes. Our list also features a few nightclubs and rooftops to keep you occupied when the sun goes down.

Long Bar at Singapore’s iconic Raffles Hotel could well serve only one drink and it would still draw in the hordes every day - as long as that drink was a Singapore Sling. The city-state’s most famous cocktail can be enjoyed at Long bar in an unrivalled classic setting; the rich in wooden features and colonial touches fill the whole bar with a strong sense of nostalgia. What about the price for that glass of gin, cherry brandy, triple sec, grenadine, pineapple juice and lime juice? About $$30 when you’ve added tax and service. The steep price tag doesn’t seem to put many off - besides, think of all the likes you’ll get after taking a photo then tagging your location on Facebook! Read More...

Anti:dote is a stylish cocktail lounge at the Singapore’s luxurious Swissotel The Stamford. Critically acclaimed mixologist, Tom Hogen, crafts combinations that impress no end, including his Asian inspired ‘Tonic’ which uses lemongrass, ginger and rum, as well as ‘the treat of kings’ giving our taste buds a real kick with its sourness. Most cocktails come in at around S$20, but don’t forget you’re sitting in the middle of a 5-star hotel in Singapore. If you’re not into your cocktails, Anti:dote would be worth a visit just for its food. Their Michelin-starred chef from Barcelona works his magic in the kitchen, producing some of the best tapas around. You can read more about the food at Anti:dote by heading over to our ’10 best restaurants in Civic District’ section! Read More...

71 storeys up at Swissotel Swissotel The Stamford lies New Asia Bar; one of the finest as well as swankiest rooftop bars in Singapore. Making several ‘Top 50 Bars in the World’ lists, this luxurious nightspot offers great views across Singapore and over to Malaysia and even Indonesia on clear nights. Come in the day time to enjoy their light snacks and range of beers and cocktails, whilst venture up at night – particularly on the weekend – to find more of a party atmosphere with bottles of Moet being popped and a live DJ keeping the crowd moving, albeit reservedly. Entrance is around S$30, but that does include one free drink. Don’t expect much change back from a fifty if you’re buying two cocktails at the bar.

Mansion Bay has closed.
Mansion Bay nightclub falls into our Marina Bay area, but as this is one of the closest, and in our opinion, best nightclubs near the Civic District, we’ve included in this list too! More commonly referred to as just ‘Mansion’ by the in-the-know locals who make up most of the crowd, this stand alone venue opened its doors in 2013 following the closure of Titanium, a long-running Thai disco that occupied the same building. Inside, you’ll find two huge floors packing in up to 1,000 people, as well as various bars and multiple DJ booths. What is particularly refreshing about Mansion Bay nightclub, compared to some other night spots in Singapore, is that the emphasis here is more on the dancing, rather than posing next to a massive bottle of Grey Goose. Mansion Bay is easy to find next to Esplanade Mall and just a few minutes’ walk from City Hall MRT in the centre of the Civic District. Read More...

Loof Bar is one of our favourite night spots in the Civic District for so many reasons. Firstly, their oh-so-simple, and cheap, happy hour deals on the weekdays are fantastic. Come between 5pm-6pm, you pay S$5 for a drink. The price then goes up S$1 every hour after that until 8.30. They also have beer pong, great rooftop views, a decent range of snacks and a live DJ plays that plays soul, hip hop and dance on the weekends too. You can find Loof perched on top of Odeon Towers on North Bridge Road. The closest MRT Station is Bras Basah but you can also walk there from City Hall MRT too. Read More...

Although boasting a rather swanky exterior in a white washed grand old house, this feel-good Singapore bar delivers a great non-pretentious vibe with their live band putting the emphasis firmly on the music rather than how good you look or how expensive your drink is. That said, you can still blow a few hundred in here if you go for a bottle of one of their fine single malts – although most of the beers and wines are sensibly priced at around S$10. As for the band, expect blues, funk, soft rock and jazz. Barber Shop by Timbre often gets packed at peak times (Weds/Fri/Sat night), a testament as to how good the band is. Find Barber Shop in The Arts House, a few blocks away from City Hall MRT.
- Opening Hours: Fri - Sat 18:00 - 01:00
- Address: #01-03 The Arts House, 1 Old Parliament Lane Singapore

Looking more like a place of worship, the stunning Chijmes building is actually home to a range of top restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping options. Head here in the evening to see the place in its best light, literally, as the whitewashed chapel is illuminated brilliantly with spotlights. Night time is also when most of the bars and restaurants fill up, creating a livelier yet still relaxed vibe. For a drink, head to ‘Here & There’ which do a great selection of wines, or try ‘Paprika & Cumin’ (more of a restaurant, but you can just take a drink.) You read about all of our favourite restaurants at Chijmes here. Read More...

Head to the very top of the Mint Museum of Toys on Seah Street and you’ll find this very compact and rather funky little rooftop bar and restaurant. Although not exactly boasting the views of say 1-Altitude or Ku De Ta, the bar does offer a nice breeze and a good look down at the streets around Singapore’s City Hall area. The walls are plastered in vintage posters and junk, making it feel a tad cheap, depending on your taste. Thankfully, then, the prices are to match, with pints starting at S$10 and a whole host of drinks deals including 25% of Martinis on Wednesday and happy hours running until 10pm on the weekends.
- Opening Hours: Mon - Thu 18:00 - 02:00, Sat - Sun 18:00 - 03:00
- Address: Rooftop Mint Museum of Toys, 26 Seah St. Singapore

With its soft carpeted floor, plush chairs and rather sterile bar area, Gravity Bar looks and feels like a classic hotel bar - probably because it is one. That shouldn’t put you off though, as there fantastic drinks deals to be had and the cocktails are top-notch too. If you arrive before 8pm, beers are only S$8, whilst house pours, wines, martinis and other cocktails are S$10. They do some tasty snacks and an acoustic band lulls the crowd with their contemporary covers every night from around 7pm. A great place for a business meeting, to take your parents or somewhere to have a conversation over some reasonably priced drinks without having to shout. Find Gravity Bar in the lobby of the luxurious Carlton Hotel.
10Ice-Cold B’s @ SMU0
- Opening Hours: Sun - Thu 17:00 - 01:00, Fri - Sat 15:00 - 01:00
- Address: Carlton Hotel, 1 Gopeng Street Singapore

No prizes for guessing what this bar specialises in. This American style bar/diner lays on a whole host of beer deals including Stella (S$6 for a half and S$9 for a pint) and Hoegaarden (about a dollar more) as well as serving beer in the jug-form for about S$20. Ice-Cold B’s is located inside the Lee Kong Chian School of Business on Stamford Road, so expect mostly students (although many seem to be of the ‘mature variety.) There’s also a pool table and they do a range of American fast food so soak up all that beer.
